Resources for Students
Student Opportunities
Loyola offers study abroad opportunities to several Latin American countries through the Center for International Education. We also offer internships at local Hispanic newspapers, The Belize program, the Twins program for living in Central America. Students may petition to have any other accredited study abroad program count toward their Loyola degree if Loyola does not offer its own study abroad program to a specific country of interest.
Facilities
Latin American Studies majors and minors have access to the Ross Language Lab where there are computers with software in Spanish as well as tapes to practice the language. There are also tutors for extra help if necessary.
For research purposes, the Monroe Library is an excellent resource. Our library has Latin American periodicals, newspapers, books, journals, and films. In many cases, we offer access to even more resources through internet services if when they are not available as hard copies. In addition all Loyola students have access to the excellent resources on the Latin American floor of the Tulane library next door.
Monroe Library is working to build its Latin American Studies film collection. We recently purchased several new films which were shown at our First Annual Latin American Studies Film Festival.
