Short Bio

Having taught for three years in the department of Historical, Religious, Visual and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths College, University of London, with further experience as a Development Officer at the Royal College of Music, Assistant Slide Librarian at University College London and Digital Imaging Technician for the Courtauld Institute's Witt Library, Dr. Hunter came to Loyola University New Orleans as Assistant Professor in Art History / Visual Culture in 2000. Since that time he has developed a close relationship with the New Orleans Contemporary Art Center and the Arts District Association becoming a regular contributor to the New Orleans Art Review, Art in America and ArtUS. Having previously published on Pièrre Buraglio (Parallax), Bernard Pagès (Analecta Hüsseliana), the Supports/Surfaces group and the École de Nice, (Encyclopedia of Contemporary French Culture, Routlege) and Mark Grote (University of Loughborough, UK), Dr. Hunter is currently working on an essay which considers art-writing in terms of translation as part of a collection entitled “The Art of Art Historical Narrative” (SECAC) and a book on multi-media artist Tony Oursler (Tulane University, New Orleans / Metro Pictures, NYC).
